1. Highlights

 

This contest takes the eyewear industry as its core, integrating the entire smart wearable value chain. It spans from the craftsmanship of eyewear to innovation and breakthroughs in smart wearable, from immersive experiences with AR/VR technologies to cutting-edge exploration of the digital industry. The contest encourages participants to explore how technological innovation can drive industrial upgrades, with a focus on areas such as the digital economy, technological advancement, and fashion design, aiming to create a unique and innovative design contest.

3. Professional Organizations

 

Judging Committee: The Committee will consist of specially invited representatives from leading global eyewear brands, manufacturing and retail enterprises, industry specialists, and heads and professors from world-renowned design schools. The Committeeis is responsible for determining the evaluation results of each group of the contest, resolving intellectual property disputes, and ruling on evaluation disputes or objections.

4. Registration Requirements

 

The contest has original design group, academic group, smart eyewear (wearable) design group, and creative design group.

i.Original designgroup

Original design-master group:

Open to domestic and overseas professionals with over 10 years of experience in eyewear design

Original design-professional eyewear design group:

Open to 1) domestic and overseas professionals engaged in eyewear design,with no restrictions on years of experience; 2) Both design and eyewear educational institutions are eligible to sign up.

 

ii.Academic group:

Open to domestic and overseas students from design or eyewear educational institutions, colleges and universities.

 

iii.Smart eyewear (wearable) design group:

Open to 1) professionals engaged in the design of smart eyewear, smartwatches, health monitoring devices, or other smart wearable equipment; 2) professionals working on VR/AR-based applications, games, or experience projects; 3) students from design or eyewear educational institutions, colleges and universities.

 

iv.Creative design group:

Open to 1) domestic and overseas professionals in creative design fields, including motion image, digital painting, interactive art, etc.; 2) students from design-related educational institutions, colleges and universities.

 

5. Procedures

 

The contest is divided into four stages, submission of works, preliminary around, semi-finals, and finals. The first three stages will be conducted online, while the final stage will be evaluated on-site.

 

[Submission of works]

Before Friday, May 30, 2025, participants should visit the contest's official website (www.sziedc.com) or designated platforms to understand the rules. They should register and submit their works through the official website based on the characteristics of each group. Submissions may include, but are not limited to, design plans, explanatory video clips, etc. There is no limit to the number of submissions per participant.

 

[Preliminary round evaluation]

In early June 2025, the expert reviewers will review submissions to ensure they meet the contest's qualifications. Eligible works will be shortlisted online.

 

[Semi-finals evaluation]

In mid-June 2025, the expert reviewers will conduct an online evaluation of the submissions, selecting the works that will advance to the on-site finals.

 

[Finals evaluation]

In late June 2025 (before the 2025 Shenzhen International Optics Fair), an on-site roadshow will be held. The expert reviewers will conduct an offline evaluation of the submissions, and based on the final scores, the winning works will be determined. The results will be published on the contest's designated platform.

 

[Awards ceremony]

The awards ceremony will take place in late June 2025, during the 2025 Shenzhen International Optics Fair

6. Work Requirements

 

i.The work shall include a design theme, title, and accompanying text annotations. Design drawings (it is recommended to cover three-view drawings with dimensions, 3D renderings, design descriptions, etc.) should be provided, in PDF format, on A4-size pages. The drawings should be limited to 4-6 pages.

 

ii.All works submitted by participants must have been created, designed, or published after 2022. The content shall align with the theme and scope of the contestand must be original. Participants shall guarantee full ownership of the intellectual property rights to their work. Any plagiarism or infringement on the intellectual property of others will result in permanent disqualification and public announcement by the organizer.

 

iii.If a submitted work is found to be similar to another design, the judging panel reserves the right to request an explanation of the design concept and creative process from the participant to verify originality. In cases of intellectual property infringement, the Judging Committee may ask participants to provide relevant evidence and will investigate and address the issue as necessary.

8. Award Setting

 

i.Organizing Committee Award

The Organizing Committee Award will be awarded across all groups. All shortlisted works are eligible to compete for this award. The winner will receive a cash prize of $11,000 (equivalent to RMB 80,000), a medal, and an honorary certificate.

 

ii.Group-specific Award

a) Original design group

Original design-master group:

Awards will be given based on final scores, with one First Prize, one Second Prize, and one Third Prize.

First Prize: Cash prize of $6,800 (equivalent to RMB 50,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Second Prize: Cash prize of $4,100 (equivalent to RMB 30,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Third Prize: Cash prize of $2,700 (equivalent to RMB 20,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate.

 

Original design-professional eyewear design:

Awards will be given based on final scores, with one First Prize, one Second Prize, and one Third Prize.

First Prize: Cash prize of $4,100 (equivalent to RMB 30,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Second Prize: Cash prize of $2,700 (equivalent to RMB 20,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Third Prize: Cash prize of $1,400 (equivalent to RMB 10,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate.

 

b)Academic group

Awards will be given based on final scores, with two First Prizes, four Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 12 Excellence Awards.

First Prize: Cash prize of $1,100 (equivalent to RMB 8,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Second Prize: Cash prize of $680 (equivalent to RMB 5,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Third Prize: Cash prize of $280 (equivalent to RMB 2,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Excellence Award: Award a medal and an honorary certificate.

 

c) Smart eyewear (wearable) design group

Awards will be given based on final scores, with one First Prize, one Second Prize, and one Third Prize.

First Prize: Cash prize of $4,100 (equivalent to RMB 30,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Second Prize: Cash prize of $2,700 (equivalent to RMB 20,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Third Prize: Cash prize of $1,400 (equivalent to RMB 10,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate.

 

d) Creative designgroup

Awards will be given based on final scores, with one First Prize, two Second Prize, and three Third Prize.

Second Prize: Cash prize of $680 (equivalent to RMB 5,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate;

Third Prize: Cash prize of $270 (equivalent to RMB 2,000), along with a medal and an honorary certificate.

9. Expenses

 

Registration, medals, and certificates are free of charge.
